Location: Chesapeake, VA. Indian Creek Correctional Center is a level 2 medium security prison. This facility provides specialized treatment services to individuals with substance use disorder.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm OR 7:45 am – 4:45 pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Pay Rate: $21.63/hr. ($45,000 annually). Benefits:- Health, dental, vision insurance

- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- State certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in the state of Virginia is required.
- Experience working in the substance abuse treatment field is preferred.
- Experience working within a correctional or secure environment is a plus.
- Experience working in Therapeutic Community model programs is a plus.
- Acting as an active facilitator (or co-facilitator) in non-clinical groups, seminars, and meetings.
- Building therapeutic alliance and exercising trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrating knowledge of community resources to help meet offender’s unique recovery needs.
- Working cohesively with multi-disciplinary team through all aspects of offender’s treatment and recovery.
- Documenting all encounters with offenders in CORIS.
- Encouraging and supporting from a place of experience and understanding.
- Advocating for the needs of the offender and ensuring that their individualized goals are being met in accordance with their assessed needs.
- Participating in training and educational activities to obtain certification (CSAC) and to remain current in knowledge of effective treatment methods.
